I have approximately 10 new kids and my other 39 are second year veterans with me! Yes...so far, I only have 49 kids and I'm hoping it doesn't make it up to 68 again like last year!
This year I am seeing most of my kids (1st-5th graders) once a week for an hour...& I love it! We can get so much more accomplished in one 60 minutes session than we could in two 30 minute sessions; it just works better! However, my kindergarten kiddos, SLU kiddos, & SCA kiddos come twice a week for 30 minute sessions...they just can't attend for 60 minutes at one time! It is all working out great! Since the kids have started back I've already had 2 meetings and one training that have pulled me out of my classroom. The first was our BOY (beginning of year) meeting as a speech department...yes all 37 or so of us! The second was a Supervisor & Assistant meeting reviewing the rules, regulations, and responsibilities of a SLP Supervisor & SLP Assistant. My training was for our new Medicaid billing program. It seems like it will be really helpful once we input all of our kiddos information and objectives and goals...but until then...lots and lots of work at the computer! Once again...I feel so blessed to be at my campus, Elfida P. Chavez Elementary, for the second year & I truly think Socorro ISD is a great place to be!
I hope everyone had a great summer and I can't wait until our Fall Intersession...YEP...off for 2 weeks in October...ATHENS & TEXARKANA...HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!
