How Big is Texas?!?!

As I was lying in bed last night (before the illegals crossed over...or at least before I knew about it!) I was reading my March 2009 edition of the Southern Living Magazine. There was a Special Travel Section which included The Great Outdoors of Texas. Here's what the intro said...
"We Texans like to talk about how big our state is. To the casual tourist, it's J.R. and Sue Ellen on Southfork Ranch, fancy Cadillacs, and Neiman Marcus. Oh, and we don't forget big hair meets big oil. We like to tell how it's farther from Texarkana to El Paso than it is from Chicago to New York or from El Paso to Los Angeles. At more than 267,000 square miles, the state occupies a full 7% of America's total land and water area and is larger than most European countries. It's no wonder when we brag and brag with such enthusiasm that the other 49 states tend to roll their eyes at us. We can't help it if bigger is better (there we go again).
With its size comes a seemingly endless beauty. Travel from one corner of the state to another and everything changes: the climate, the topography, the weather. You can travel from the flattest ground to rolling hills within a matter of hours. No matter whether you're a wilderness expert or one who thinks a day in the park is roughing it, Texas has something outdoors for you."

May I remind you that I am from Texarkana, TX & currently work in El Paso. So, when you may not understand how far my family and friends are....just refer to the good ole' Southern Living Magazine to explain it all for you!
