As I sat in the waiting room at Dr. Gupta's office today I became extremely nervous as always when I know that needles are a possibility. My consultation with Dr. Gupta went well and he even brought up the letter that he wrote for me; God bless that man! Thank you Lord for doctors that truly care about my well being and health; for 3 years I struggled to find this. THIS IS SUCH A PRAISE! (you truly have no idea) Dr. Gupta suggested another injection (nerve block) for my Occipital Neuralgia, I knew that he would suggest this and even more so, I knew that I needed this. After scheduling the nerve block, for approximately a 10 minute wait (how nice!) I was in the procedure room lying face down getting a "x" on the back of my head, an alcohol rub, and a needle pushed in 3 different locations all through 1 injection....OUCH! The pain was a lot more severe with this second injection and I feel that was because of the location, lower down than the first and the amount of the injection itself (more than the first). I immediately became numb which I didn't feel so much from the first injection and felt extremely light headed and nauseous. After the injection I had to remain lying on my stomach with an ice pack on the injection site. This is a horrible feeling as the pain is intense and it's difficult to breath lying face down on an exam table; anyways I made it through and sat in the procedure room before gaining enough strength to walk to the car. ...I do believe I should've waited longer because I truly thought I was going to pass out on the way to the car. I don't believe I have ever felt so weak and weird. That feeling lasted for about an hour and by that time I was home lying on the sofa. Much thanks to all who made that possible! I tried to take a nap but just couldn't. I requested some queso and Chad was in the kitchen in no time "whipping" up our favorite cheese dip recipe. I truly have THE best husband ever! The pain that I feel now is strictly from the injection; don't get me wrong although the Occipital Neuralgia pain has diminished for now the pain from the injection site is strong, sharp, and intense...however it is something that I can tolerate for as long as it lasts; a few days max. My hair is beautifully clean and shouldn't be too dirty by the time I can wash it (will probably wait until Thursday or Friday). My follow up appointment is scheduled for June 30th to check the injection site to make sure it hasn't become infected and that it has healed properly. Thanks for your prayers and messages (via email, Facebook, text, and voicemail); I appreciate them all and will respond individually if I haven't already in a few days. I feel that we, I, am sometimes fast to complain but I also want you to know that I'm fast to praise and with thanks as well. It's just hard to manage this constant pain without talking about it; when it gets this bad it just consumes my day, thoughts, and feelings, but thanks to God because relief is on the way! Won't you pray for everlasting relief with this second injection?!?!?! I would love nothing more, in regards to this O.N., than to never have another injection and not have to go through surgery to permanently fix this as suggested. Let's hope for my next doctor visit to be in 2 weeks for my follow up and then my next one with Dr. Kemper in January to check out my pituitary gland; sorry Dr. Gupta but I would love to only see you 1 more time!
PRAISE HIM NOW FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE &
PRAISE HIM IN ADVANCE FOR ALL THAT HE WILL DO!
